Chelsea Acoustics Group photo gallery

Just before Christmas 2014, some of us ex-Chelsea College people met up for a drink and in the lively discussion that followed, we thought it would be a good idea to share online all the old photos from the Chelsea and Acoustics days. So here are the photo galleries.

The idea behind this project is to gather online as many as possible of the hundreds of photographs that were taken in and around the Chelsea Acoustics lab at Pulton Place. The late 70's & 1980's was an era of (just about) affordable SLR cameras so a lot of photos were taken, developed in the lab's darkroom and stapled onto just about every vertical surface in the lab - something you just don't see in labs & offices these days, only people huddled around someone's smartphone looking at someone else's Facebook update.

Over time prints get dog-eared, fade, lost or thrown out so it would be a shame to lose them - I can vividly remember some of the photos that were up in the lab and wonder what happened to them. See what's already here, many of which were rescued from the lab in the dying days of Pulton Place in 1987, and feel free to upload your own. There are now two main albums, Lab and Social with the latter containing photos from various events after the lab closed down:

Adding a photo is easy - just go to the 'Quick connect' box at the bottom of the left-hand pane and log into the gallery with the username acoustics and the password you have been given. (Hint: the password is the lab's old telephone number following the 01 dialling code and including the extension but if you can't remember what this was, just ask!). Click on 'Submit', select the album you want to add a photo to and then click the 'Upload photos' link at the bottom of the 'Menu' section of the left-hand pane to choose your photo and upload it.

If you want any help using this upload facility, just ask and if you're having problems uploading photos, you can email me the photos and I'll put them up for you. They can be in any format and any size you like although the ones up here are resized to 1200 pixels maximum as this looks good on phones, phablets, tablets and desktop computers.

Finally, the site now has a nice memorable URL.

Have fun! (I certainly did, putting this lot together)

Cheers, Andy
